Hello from SLC!

I've restored a VW Beetle, done routine maintenance on my cars, and am just starting the DIY stuff for the house we just moved into in August '06.

At first, I was reluctant to tackle new things: malfunctioning sprinklers, evaporative cooler repair ("swamp cooler" in the Western US), door lock replacement, etc. I had "dad help" for boxing in a heating duct that ran across a hallway, and also for wiring three new closet light fixtures. Now, armed with a basic knowledge of a lot of DIY projects around the house, I think I"m just about to the point where I'm dangerous!

Right now, we're putting the final stages of mud on the sheetrock patches in the kitchen/dining room addition, after installing wire for a new light fixture.

I hope to be able to help out some other newbies from some of my screwups!
