Hello from Scotland

Have old house and loads of DIY projects to do.
Wondering if many other folks are from the UK.

Last time I was in Scotland it was to help a family from Philadelphia decide why after six years their son had not managed to be graduated from St. Andrews.

I flew over to check on the lad. I realized majoring in golf takes longer than most other majors and told the family so. They cut him off and he finally finished in year seven.

Little sneak still plays golf most of the time and finds the strangest of things noone else could in the UK. He seems to have a market for them here and makes a rather decent living importing even with the horrid exchange rate.

He brought me one of your herder coats and a couple cans of wax and gave it to me for Christmas one year. I loved that thing. It was thin but amazingly warm. And waterproof was an understatement.

I loaned it to a kid trying to drop out of high school. I got him into a magnet high school program called the zoo school. He literally went to school at a major US city zoo and mixed meals for animals and shoveled the results. The coat smelled zoo like after awhile so I let him have it.

Some are afraid to mention it but it is a custom to send the moderators of this site an aged bottle of single malt.

Welcome from Michigan. One of the players on my sons football (or soccer as we call it) team has parents from Scotland. They are lots of fun to be around but they talk funny :) just kidding. Enjoy the site. I sure like it.

Lol. Glaswegian by chance?
I find them hard to understand at times too, especially with a few drinks inside of them.

Hi Biggles. Cute name. * wink *
I'm in Canada at the moment so no fires on here yet but had the fires on before I left the UK.
Weathermen are forecasting another COLD and snowy winter in Scotland this year. I love a white Xmas.

Thought your name of Biggles was from the UK comic book character.

biggles 10-29-2011 01:11 PM

maybe that's where he got it from in the 70's

We West of your pond can be quite adorably horrible.

Remembered this, and most people on this site, until I post this, will not know there was once a rather decent Black man with jazz bagpipes.

In the US, we assume all Scots can and want to play bagpipes.

This site does not allow recipes in regular sections. Keep your Haggas at home!

Smiling .... FYI ....
The pond of which you speak ( Atlantic Ocean ) does NOT belong to Scotland or the UK.
I don't play bagpipes nor desire to do so.
As for the infamous HAGGIS, I don't like that either.
