We'll be preparing over the next couple years (financially and plan-wise) to finish our basement. I'll be doing almost all the work with my own two hands (NOT touching the drywall, though!) and want to make sure I've got every t crossed and i dotted before we start. That includes a full 3d model of the basement plans, including plumbing and electrical runs, insulation, framing, ...the works. I can't wait to see the look on the faces of the city planning department when I walk in...
Personally, I'm 31, with wife and kids, and I like to do things myself. Why? Three reasons: 1) I'm cheap, 2) I want to make sure it's done right, and 3) I love the feeling of accomplishment from doing things myself, and especially love learning how to do them.
