Hello again from Germany
I posted some months ago about a house I wanted to buy. Well one Friday evening, after 5 weeks of getting all the paperwork going and planning, the people selling the house just changed their minds. "No, we don't want to sell" I was heartbroken. I got up the next morning and went to the internet and found another house in 5 minutes! It has a huge lot and a better location. The only down side it has to be gutted. Complete rebuild. Everbody thinks I'm crazy and it should be torn down or I should have bought a differnt place. I stole it for 35k Euro! I started demolition on March 26th. I have attached a couple of pics to give a rough idea. Over 90 sq meters of concrete busted out, 36 tons. The floor is dug down, getting ready to install water, sewer and electric. The roof is next to come down. I will raise the upper walls to get rid of the sloped ceiling to the floor. It will be a very busy next few months! I want to be in before winter. Not finished but to a point that I can stay there. I will keep updates coming. Scott Shumaker

Hello again from Germany
Wow, that's an old house. Good luck on your project, at least you are giving your self a realistic time line.
Welcome to the site.

Hello again from Germany
Thanks. The house is around 1800 but I found evidence of a fire and a previous foundation under the floor that I broke up. Here is a pic of what is left of the outhouse.

Hello again from Germany
doc; The amazing part of Giebelstadt is that it is really famous :} Turns out it was there that they did all the research and development of the ME 262 and the rocket Komet!!!!! I didnt know that until a few years ago. There are a couple of websites all about Gieb. It was actually 2 bases, the one seen on the ground and a few years after the war they discovered another complete base UNDERGROUND!!!!!!!!!! Complete 262's, some 109's, parts, food etc etc amazing!
