Hello all,

New member from NC. My girlfriend and I bought a house a year ago and I'm finally getting into the project that need some professional(ish) advice.

Little bit about the house: Built in 1990 - burned down in 2011. Completely rebuilt in 2011 from the ground up. Everything in this house is brand spankin new. Not even a burrito was nuked in the microwave. Also new stud walls, drywall, carpet, tile.... i mean everything. 2 floors, about 2300 heated sqft with a 2 car garage in a nice little neighborhood on a .4 acre lot.

Little bit about me: I'm a project manager for a renewable energy developer/construction company that specializes in Landfill Gas to Energy projects. Before this gig, I did about 4 years of residential construction for myself and a few small companies. Went to college and got a couple degrees, but my passion is construction, and I will be in this industry for the rest of my working career. I have always striven to do all my projects the right way, the 1st time. So I am joining this site to ask you all a few questions that will get me started and finished with my projects a bit sooner.

Interesting back ground.
In my general area we have several sites set up next to land fills that take in the oil contaminated soil they dig up around old service station fuel tanks.
The soil is burned to rid it of oil and they use the dirt to cover the landfill every day, for fuel they use the methane from the land fill.
In two years the whole system is paid for from fees charged to treat the soil and savings from not having to buy fuel or fill dirt.
