Hi everyone-

My name is Mike.

I'm a married 30-something who owns a 100 year old bungalow in Minneapolis with my wife. We are undertaking several projects, one at a time. These will eventually include a bathroom, kitchen, basement, and bedroom. We are currently starting the basement. We have already finished a front porch and some odds and ends.

I have some experience from growing up with a DIY father, and assisting with some other remodeling projects. I don't really have any formal training, but have decent basic carpentry skills and a working knowledge of electrical systems. I also have a good friend who is a plumbing contractor, so he consults on all plumbing projects.

I take instruction, and follow directions well. I also know when to ask questions, and I tend to research very carefully before doing anything at all. I work on projects between my job, and hunting, fishing, and backpacking trips. I travel for work, so I am guranteed 1 full week at home out of every 4 weeks. On my home weeks, I only have to keep a phone on, so I can usually work on things for the entire week.

I just wanted to say hi, and thank everyone in advance for any help.

Welcome to the Chatroom. You'll find very friendly and helpful people here. Hopefully, while working on the basement, you won't be doing a ceiling. Lots of times you need to run electrical and plumbing in the basement joists. Ceilings would be the last thing you install. I am sure you will find any help you need here.
