Greetings from Dallas, Texas
Hi everyone. I am here because of the mess I have created after hiring out a master bath remodel to three different contractors. I really need help deciding how to go about repairing the floor so we can lay the tile (again.)
What we have is a pier and beam house (circa 1968) with about 2 inches of cement poured over the joists in the bathroom. We have had it repaired and tiled. The tile guys were horrible and we have to tear it all out again.
One contractor (of the several) we interviewed told me that unless the subfloor is made of wood of a certain size, he would consider it too dangerous to repair or repour the cement and we may have to tear all the cement out and replace it with plywood and hardiboard.
No other contractor has mentioned this. I am really worried now. Anybody...Help?
