Good Morning from Virginia!

Hey everyone! I'm so GLAD I found this site and I'm sure I'll be here often!

I'm Kim and have been working in the construction industry forever (in the office). Currently I work in Marketing and Proposals for a large GC. I am also pretty handy around the house, as evidenced by my "never ending" projects.

My brother is a GC as well, so I use him all.the.time for stuff. My husband and I bought our home from my parents 2 years ago, the house I grew up in as a teenager (20 years ago). The house was built in the 60's, my parents bought it in the 80's and did some minor upgrades, but I'm tired of seeing the "same ol same ol".

Right now we are just doing cosmetic changes to every room, but eventually we'll be doing more nitty gritty stuff - and I can't wait!

I look forward to being involved with this site.

Welcome aboard! Where in Virginia are you? I'm looking to move to Arlington shortly here, maybe we could share some tips if we're in the same area.

I'm in Virginia Beach...Arlington is a couple hours north of us. But that area is nice - what I've seen of it besides traffic - although I don't know much about the area.

Yes, I've heard the traffic is terrible. I am excited to be around all of the history (monuments, white house, Smithsonians, etc.) I'm not a huge history buff, but that stuff is pretty cool.

Oh I definately agree! I'm not that into history either, but we've been to Colonial Williamsburg a few times, and went to the 400th anniversary of Jamestown over the summer. We haven't ventured up to DC (I haven't been since I was a teenager) but would like to head up that way sometime! It's sad that we are so close to it but just never got around to going. Then again, DH is from Upstate NY only 2 hours from Niagra, and we have yet to visit the Falls.

How are the stairs at your place? My husband does staircase renovations and he can completely renovate within a day! Or we can give you support for DIY. Let me know if you need anything! We're also from VA so it'd be easy if you need some help.
