DIYer, just registered, fantastic site!

Hello,
My name is Matt, have been lurking for months, finally registered. I read site almost daily, and I have to say this forum is a wealth of excellent information and experience!

A little about me: I am 30 years old, married, two small children (2.5 year old son and 6 month old daughter), so that keeps me busy enough haha. I am a registered nurse by day, but home improvement is my real passion.

I grew up in a home where we didn't have money to call a plumber or repairman for much of anything...no offense to the skilled tradesmen at all. So my father figured his way through all sorts of repairs and improvements, and I caught the spark in my teens.
I had the great fortune to pick up a 1925 brick/stucco on a foreclosure for an awesome price at the beginning of the year, so I am working my way through all kinds of improvements there. Huge admirer of the old houses, but they have their shortcomings (upstairs shower on 2 exterior uninsulated walls-cold!) and those are what I'm improving as I can. I am moderately experienced in home repair (I can wire, plumb, frame, little finishing experience, but have never built my own home) and eager to learn all I can and always eager to work on it! Happy to be here among such knowledgable people!
