cement board to cement blocks

Help again. I am trying to "paint" with stucco on cement board. I have premium grade repair stucco and here are some pics. I want something that will last a long time.

I plan to paint it all with stucco paint and then add some color with outdoor paint.

This is a sign for a brewery here that makes great beer. Alpine Brewery. It is their saying.

I feel stucco bonds to the cement board. I love how they chemically cling together. If I don't put it on too thick I think it will last.

Thank you for any suggestions as to if this will work and how to make it more permanent.
