Basement stairs

I'm contemplating remodeling the basement, but I'll need to either turn or relocate the stairs. Is this a do-it-yourself project or should I seek professional carpenters.

Basement stairs

If you feel comfortable I can't see why not, just make sure you check the codes as there are specific requirements such as the maximum height of a stair and minimum width, etc... Also the clearance before you bump your head needs to be a certain amount. This probably varies by region.
