About myself

Hi,
My name is John. I worked in IT most of my life but I am now retired and looking for fun projects to tackle. Right now I am interested in solar power as a way to save money since I am now on a fixed income. I am thinking about a garden next year and may invest in a greenhouse for year round gardening. There's a stream in my back yard that I'd like to make use of but I need to test the water to determine if it's safe for vegetable plants. I'll worry about it next year.

I've put a kitchen, bathroom and shower in my basement so I've done some DIY projects, but electrical stuff baffles me (watts, volts, amps, kwh). It's all too confusing. Anyway, I'm glad to me a DIY member and hope to get lots of helpful info from everyone.

Welcome to the forums, John! I understand on the alt. power. I'm researching solar passive water heating and solar space heating "closets" before I retire soon. Researching now before "downsizing" from our 4 bdr. to a 1000 sq.ft. later...
