Why no Edit on old posts?

I was going to go through old posts and edit for content but noticed some old posts no longer have the edit button. I was wondering if this was purposeful and if so curious as to why. If not maybe you can look into it.

Here is an example. This post goes back just a little over a month, and I can not edit. http://www.diychatroom.com/f9/bakor-...h-down-106232/

This isn't new. We have editing set to 15 days (I think). The reason is that some people will go out and delete all their posts once they get the answer they are looking for or if they get mad at something. This leaves threads unreadable since major sections are removed.

Why not add a new reply with the correction you want to make?
