What Improvements Would You Like To See?

I would love to hear your ideas on things we can do to improve DIY Chatroom for you.

What things do you love?

What things are you not so crazy about?

Are there features you would love to see added or fine-tuned?

Stop the advertising that looks like posts in the forum. ADs around the side etc are OK. You need to make money. The spam posts are just annoying.

Emailing of actual post content instead of just a notification that someone responded to your post.....

That way you can decide if you want to respond or not.

Not having to make 5 posts prior to being able to post a link.

Making adding the location to your profile mandatory.
New posters are asking questions on, codes, insulation needs, what plant or bug it is, foundation requirements, ECT. ECT. all require a location in order to answer the question.
Hardly think just adding your state or county is a privacy issue.

Sorry if that's been inconvenient for you but that little rule has cut back the spam on this site by 90%.

Yeah, it eliminated a ton of spam. Use to be on any given day, more then 50 spam post were removed. Now, 50 in a week is a heavy week.

I agree with the 5 post limit to links. Kind of discouraging to new users.

If you had a forum and had to deal with spam , you would understand how necessary that rule is.

Not a complaint just curious as to why since I have never have owned a forum. Why is there a limit on how long a post can be? I know that many of my post can get "wordy" but when I start talking about my passion I can't help it. Like I said is not a problem I just divided post up or shorten them and once I get my blog going more can just send them a link to answer in my blog . I was just curious as to why more than anything.

Most communities and blogs (for comments) have a cut off point to prevent misuse. If there was no limit someone could put literally thousands of pages in single comments (copy pasted) into the forums and cause a huge mess in a matter of minutes.

I'm disappointed my posts have ads in them that appear placed/suggested/used by me as they are in my post "body". Will this continue?

Gary
