These two forums have very similar content. Would there be any interest in combining them?

Are you looking for a commission or finders fee for merging two buinesses owned by different, competing parties?
I am active on both and find each has its own personality. Many people do not want their post to get lost, while others may want a larger and broader response to questions. |

Bwahahahahahahahaaaaaa...... The similarities end at the general content Which, in the over-all scheme of these forum types, is what most casual observers might be aware of The similarities end there The behind the scenes, moderation, rules, ads, sales (one of those sites has/is a store), general attitude of admin/mods, and ownership of the sites, are pretty much as far away as one could get while still maintaining the general "DIY Forum" type content Thus the forums themselves, the "Face" or "Personality" if you will, are really pretty different I think there's room, and a need, for both I'd have to vote No |

Yeah, I post on both and they are not really the same. This one, obviously, is much better.

Interesting...............
My post like this one got deleted on the other forum. So I'm guessing this one will too. If I had studied the rules for each forum I probably would have realized the differences sooner. I use mozilla and adblocker so I didn't even know the other site was a store, ![]() My intent was simply to combine content such that more people can view/answer questions. But it seems like many of the mods know about both so monitoring both sites isn't a big deal. |

I just tried to PM one of you but it says I need to have 20 posts. A while back I had a post deleted because I necro'd a thread that was 6 months old. Sadly I feel that this forum is more strict on the rules than the other one
![]() **now I need only 3 more posts** Please don't delete any Mr Moderator. |

![]() Well, I guess that would a fine example of the difference Point: There's no reason to delete this thread It's a discussion, an honest and fair question, and a link to the other site for comparison It doesn't appear you are "spamming" for the other site Links to other sites, even "competing" ones (DIY forums specifically), are allowed here Though more so if it's in relation to a specific question I mean, if your first 4 posts are "hey...look at this competing site"....you're pretty much begging for a banning ![]() Seriously, this site is way more relaxed, with fewer rules Not that the few aren't enforced well, but there are far, far, fewer of them And much more moderator flexibility within this particular site I'm sure your missing post was simply caught in a cross-fire We don't delete for necro, but if there was spam in the thread that was raised up...(sometimes we miss them and they lie there until the thread rolls down into the depths)...or something else.... I can't speak to the specifics of the thread to which you refer, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't something like that |

After using that combo, I find it difficult to surf w/o It almost feels painful with all that clutter ![]() ...and don't forget the ad-blocker (now watch, I'll get the boot from here for promoting a no/low-ad browser) |

Slickshift described things very accurately.
dgbehrends, your experience is nothing new. That other site SUCKS! They are a bunch of communists that shoot anyone that even remotely questions them or ANYTHING about their site. I spent several years posting on that site. Now anyone who knows me knows I am pretty blunt sometimes. I tend to tell it like it is. I really do try not to be rude though, at least at first. Well, my glowing personality, plus questioning the mods decisions one too many times, got me "banned for life" over there. Some of the mods are/were really cool. I have checked back only to find several of them are gone or are no longer mods. I wonder why. The others, slickshift knows who I mean, are A-holes with GOD complexes.

I've spent some time on the other site, just lurking. I think there are more people here that are eager to help, and the bulk of the information promulgated on this site is more sound and accurate.
Plus the mods are pretty cool.
