Thumbs Up vs. Thanks
To many posts I have seen get a Thanks for the great post when the meaning is only to acknowledge the poster is acknowledged by the reader for humor, or just
being there. I for one would like to see a new option button, a button to show that someone likes, appreciates or has fun with the post and not reallly a Thank You for valuable information. Is that possible?? I want to acknowledge certain posts, but I do not always feel they need thanks. Can somethig be added?????? I like the idea (not my own) of adding a "Thumbs Up" option, for lack of a better term, v.s doing a "Thank You" when you are acknowledging a post, for humor, for agreeing with you, whatever, other than a REAL Thank You!!!!!!!!!?????????? I for one love the banter, but for those who are looking for truly imformative posts, the banter in not needed. Thanks should only apply to posts that will give information that will help solve a problem without extra talk that does not apply to the true question. I do love the banter, but it does in many cases not address the issue.

Be careful what you wish for----
Nathan 'improved' Contractor talk with a lot of new gizmos---the site has slowed down and become confusing to navigate. Sorry Nathan but that's the way the site works.---Mike---

Sounds familiar. I brought something like this up a while ago. Nothing ever became of it. It would be nice to sort the answers by usefulness.

You are right, both of you---however ,tinkering with a system that's working can bring on unwanted side effects.---

![]() This site also has a very neat feature CT no longer has.... you can zip to a member's profile, and see where they are looking at the current time. EDIT: 1951, just try to think of the "Thanks" button as a conversational wink. It can mean many things, and part of the fun of the interplay is deciphering (or imagining you are) just what the wink meant in that particular incident.

I'd take it one step further and make it like an amazon review. where readers are asked : did you find this post useful? and you get to check yes or no. and the results would be right there for all to see.

I say leave it alone. More gizmos will only be more distracting. |
