Spring Black Friday Ads

Nope, you're not the only one bothered by it. There's a thread right now about it in the "site and suggestions" forum. It drives me nuts because I have to wait for the ad to finish resizing my screen every time I do anything on this site.

Normally I just read and soak up the info, but, these ads are annoying.

Spring Black Friday Ads

The new Home depot add that pops up on every screen and fills both sides of the screen is beyond annoying. I know the site needs the add money but this is too much.

Spring Black Friday Ads

Could be worse. At least it doesn't cover the threads like some of the old ads used to. It is somewhat annoying but tolerable.

In fact, I opened a "reply" window, started to type out a few words, then all of a sudden the ad appeared, resized my window, made my cursor jump and screwed up what I was typing and I had to fix it.

I know there is only so much the admins can do, but can they send a request to the forum software developers to find a way to prevent ads that modify the screens?
It isn't the software. I use basically the same thing on the forum I run. It is that these tech people (and I don't mean Cricket) either don't know what they are doing or don't care. I personally think that they don't care. But, as posters quit and their ranking falls, it will cost the owners money. Then maybe someone will care.

Spring Black Friday Ads

Big Thanks to Dan.
Adblocker Plus for killed them for me (using firefox).

Also got rid of a lot of ads on facebook, like the ones that show up, just because you recently visited a site and looked at something. HD is a big one for those, also.

Thanks again, Dan.

Spring Black Friday Ads

Just curiosity from an old F...... but what is the reference to Spring Black Friday Ads........?????

TIA

and I hate this ads crwding out content also.... understand that ads are necessary, but at some point, they diminish content too much......

matter of fact, I don't mind some good ads, that keep you up to date on new products etc..... not fond of HD wall-paper... just reminds me why they are so grossely inflating prices and cutting service....

Spring Black Friday Ads

The home depot ads on both sides of the page. At the top of them (above home depot) it says Spring Black Friday. (Stores are attempting to create a springtime shopping spree, similar to the Friday after thanksgiving.)

If you are not getting them on your screen, look back at post #3, the screenshot on the right.

I use ad- and popup-blocking software. Don't get any ads at all.
