Private Messaging?

Hi There,

I was greeted with a PM and, in it, it mentioned that new members weren't allowed to PM because of spammers. A reasonable precaution, but I was wondering when it finally gets lifted? There was a user posted something, and I wanted to ask him (assumed) a question, but I didn't want to continue a thread that is clearly annoying some long-time members.

Thanks

just ask your question. if the "annoying thread" was that bad, it would probably be removed.

It's not that bad :). But my insistence on the quest for knowledge (and, admittedly, somewhat for the justification for a new power tool toy ;)), is pretty clearly annoying some members. And I can empathize with that. So, since my question really only applies to one thread contributor, anyway, at this point I'd normally take things to PM or email. But I cannot. So I was wondering when, if ever, I could.

Don't know what the number is, but you should be close. On my forum, we didn't have the rule and a new member spammed everyone via PMs. So the rule is a good idea.

i think after 20 post

On one of the other forums (non-DIY) of which I'm a member, it's 10 posts.

Yup, that'll happen. Can't argue with that.

It's gonna be a while, then. This is about the only DIY project I've got going, right now, for which I have any questions.

Maybe I could find some electrical or electronic questions to answer, somewhere? Or didn't I see a Home Theater section...? Yeah.

Guess I best get busy :)

[edit] Yup, 20 posts it is. PM'ing just showed up for me in the menu you get when you click on a member, but when I take that option, a dialog comes up telling me I have to have 20 posts.

Well, you now have 22, so you should be happily PMing already.

Indeed I do (23, now) and indeed I am :)

How come there’s no "manage attachments" in PM???

That would be a good addition!
