How to Upload Photos - A short Guide

6 Attachment(s)
If the photo is in your e-mail, first save the file to your computer, save it somewhere easy to access like the Desktop or your My Documents folder. If the file in Outlook Express E-mail, click the paper clip in the upper right corner, and click save attachments. If the photo is in web mail like Gmail, Right click on the photo, as shown in this photo and click save picture as.

Attachment 6420

Next, Start a new message on this site, or reply to a message in progress, you will see a paper clip on the top of your message window, as is highlighted in yellow below, click that.
Attachment 6421

A new window will open, Click the browse button, as is highlighted in yellow in this photo:
Attachment 6422

Now locate the file on your computer, (wherever you saved it, Desktop, My Documents, etc.) and click OPEN.
Attachment 6423

You will be brought back to the upload window once you have clicked OPEN, now click UPLOAD. It will show you once the file is uploaded. Once the upload is done, close the upload window, and you will again see the compose message screen again where you were typing.

Now click the arrow next to the paper clip, and click once on the name of the photo you wish to insert. Example:
Attachment 6424

Once you click the name of the photo as described above, a new line of text will appear in your message, this means your photo is attached and ready to send to the group. The photo will show up where ever you have the line of text placed, example:
Attachment 6425

Now you may type whatever else you like, and submit your message as normal.

Hope this is helpful.

Just a note for those of you that are having problems uploading your pictures; the file size must be under 100KB for it to upload. You must first re-size your photo before trying to upload.

Most photo software has this option, I find infranview http://www.irfanview.com/ the easiest to use. It is a free download. Make sure you down load the plug ins when downloading. This will give you a "save for web" option that makes it very easy to re-size your pictures.

Trouble uploading a picture (line drawing).
Was a 33K GIF file.
Manage attachments shows it uploaded as a 93k jpg file
Shows up in my thread as a red X

That should work.

If you want to email me the photo and tell me what conversation it needs to go on, I will try uploading it for you.

I e-mailed you back. Your message came into my SPAM folder, so I'm not sure if you will get my reply or if it will go into your junk / spam folder.

For anyone else that sees a gif upload as a jpeg; If you upload a gif that is too large for the forum (larger than the limits it shows in the upload box) then the forum will attempt to re-size the image. Due to licensing issues with image formats*, the image can only be re-sized as a jpeg, so a gif file that needs to be re-sized will be converted to a jpeg file. You will also notice the file is larger in size.

I don't know the exact cause of the problem Allan had with this upload. I just wanted to mention the Gif to Jpeg issue in case it confuses anyone.

Where to find photos

Just thought I'd mention that a lot of people get in trouble for copying images from google searches. Probably not as big a deal if you're just posting to a forum, but if you want to be safe and don't want to end up paying $4,000 to an angry copyright holder, I suggest checking out flickr.com. You can search for images under a creative commons license. Usually you only have to give credit to the photographer in order to use the image.

I followed the procedure, uploaded the selected photo and the screen says done but when I close it and open the manage attachments screen no uploaded photos are listed.

It's probably my computer. I've been having problems lately.

It does that to me when the file size is to big (100 kb max) in Chrome.

You may have to re-size the pictures and/or make sure the file type is on the list.

Click on the "go advance" button and then "manage attachments" if your wanting to attach a pic from your files.

bilug 05-17-2014 09:09 PM

Something is wrong. I don't see any GO ADVANCE button.
When I go to the Quick Links tab to edit my profile, it says I don't have permission to do that for both EDIT YOUR DETAILS and EDIT OPTIONS

Should be under the post box that you are typing your reply in.
