Frustrated
I have installed floor covering, mosty carpet and vinyl, for almost 40 years. There are some posters who come on here, petending to be pro installers who give the wrong advice, over and over. If Jazman or Bud Cline give tile advice, I shut up, they know what they are talking about. I, like many of you, come on here just to help DIYers. It just gets frustrating when some of these people, who don't have a clue, give advice. RANT OVER.

It happens with all the various topics. Sometimes the incorrect advice is meant with all good intentions but the advisor is simply incorrect and doesn't realize it.
That is why it is important the regulars that are knowledgeable continue to stick around and try to make gentle corrections so those seeking proper advice get it and hopefully those giving incorrect advice learn in the process as well. Last edited by nap; 09-11-2010 at 07:08 PM. |

When I give advice, I always make sure to mention if I'm not 100% sure, and to wait for a pro response in case I'm wrong. Sometimes if I see nobody responded, I'll try to help. But yeah I can see the frustration in people giving advice and making it sound like they really know their stuff. It can lead to people doing the wrong thing.
