Well, now that the new site is up... What does everyone think?

Is it easy enough to use?
Hows the design?

Feedback is always appreciated. I want to tweak and improve the site any way possible.

the DIYREPAIR on the top left hand corner looks a little lonely.
There is alot of real estate to the right of it.

Maybe a Motto fill in the blank.
"where contractors come together to help the common DIYer"
or something less chessy :)

yea, I've head that from another person too. I think I either need to work on the header or see what it looks like with a banner.
The store has a banner now:

Its hard to make things come together sometimes.

Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming.

Ads at least fill the void and hopefully your pocketbook, but to be honest, I scroll down so soon, I would have to really look to find something to click on.

I really like the site colors Nathan, very easy on the eyes. Maybe could use a little more breakdown into categories, sub categories.

Decks & Porches

There's a few, I'm sure others will have additional ideas. Also a category for product reviews, there might be some liability issues, but man there are new brands of construction materials coming on the market everyday. Within the last month I've become aware of two products that on paper anyway appear to be equal or better to the brand I've been using & recommending. Both have longer warranties than what I'm using, but I know nothing about the companies other than what I read on websites and press releases.
A place for live feedback from pros and homeowners about specific brands of materials would be a valuable tool to use when choosing what brands to recommend both to posters on the boards here and to my clients.

Something that I have seen here is a disclaimer, something that says in essence this is free general advice and that neither the owners of the site nor the individual members may be held accountable for any losses incurred by the user of said advice. Most sites like this that cater to the diyer have something like this that's fairly easy to navigate to. Here's an example from another popular site. Just a thougth and maybe it's covered somewhere I haven't run across yet.

It's a great site, and the people are mostly friendly and helpful! I wouldn't change much. Sometimes it's kinda slow, but I'm sure it will pick up as the membership grows.

Oh, and one more thing: maybe a specific sub-forum for pictures of naked chicks. I think this would be nice, AND it might help the membership to grow faster.

Oh, yeah, ONE more thing: The smilie selection is kinda lame. You should add more. Maybe take a poll of what types people would use, then post like 20 or so and have people vote. Then you could pick the 5 or 6 with the most votes and add them to the standard ones available.

We do have a TOS located here:
But I should alter it a bit. Thanks for the advice.

Looks like you've got it pretty well covered there Nathan, I just wasn't looking in the right place.

Pic of naked girls, please......there's plenty of that on the web already. 9 times out of 10 if you misspell the name of the site you're looking for in your address window, you'll find some ****. Man we just can't take you out in public can we.:D

pray1, go to the forum you want to post in, and at the top left, click the button that says "new thread".

The example below is from the remodeling forum.

Thanks pro wall guy .

The site is awesome, wouldn't change a thing. I'm a dedicated DIYer but know my limitations, so I bring in a pro whenever necessary. And guys- thanks for keeping it clean. Really.

I think the great thing about this site is it gives us a chance to give back. It improves the image of the average contractor and shows that everything we do does'nt have to do with $$$.Even though the oldest proffesion never gives it away for free . We can learn to be above that! It is a good feeling to help others and give back. Plus, there is nothing good on TV

Nathan, thanks for giving us this site to help improve our image!

ps. The contractor site is the bomb!! I wish it was around ten years ago!
