Anyone else getting errors on site?
Every now & then when I click on Quick Links for Todays posts
I get an error
Page can't be displayed
If I then hit the back key I am there

Anyone else?

DUDE! 05-25-2009 08:30 AM

been working fine here Dave, sometimes proper placement of a hammer takes all the bugs out of the puter.

Nathan 05-25-2009 08:50 PM

Still having trouble Dave?

Scuba_Dave 05-25-2009 09:49 PM

Yes, every once in a while
Usually when I click "Quick Links" "Todays Posts"

I haven't cleared my cache recently so I'll give that a try

Actually cleared the cache & then got this

Stop running this script?
A script on thi spage is causing IE to run slowly.
If it continues to run, your PC may become unresponsive

Scuba_Dave 05-26-2009 09:54 PM

Just happened again
Maybe try Windows updates
Maybe IE has some problems..but that never happens

Scuba_Dave 05-26-2009 10:26 PM

OK, here's the other error I get

IE canít open the internet site
Operation aborted

I checked - there aren't any IE updates
It displays the name of the thread it couldn't open
I hit "back" & then it shows the thread

Scuba_Dave 05-27-2009 06:55 AM

Just had the same error on another site that uses the same software
This time when trying to reply to a thread
I wonder if it 's when I have both sites open?
I'm not sure what version the other site uses - VBulletin
This site uses 3.8.1

W>O>W>! sounds suspicious dave... what antivirus/spyware are you running if any?
i'd go to and run their freeware, just to be safe.
your symptoms seem very viruslike.

Scuba_Dave 05-27-2009 07:28 AM

No virus
No problems with other sites
Only VBulletin sites

hmmmmm...don't bother searching the web for VBulletin errors

I've asked the other site what version they are using
For now I'm going to make sure I don't have both sites open & see what happens

DangerMouse 05-27-2009 07:36 AM

have you tried a different browser? firefox? opera?
IE could easily be the problem......

Scuba_Dave 05-27-2009 07:39 AM

I've tried different browsers (not for this problem) & for one reason or another I'm back with IE
I was using Firefox for quite a while but there was something I ran into (that I use) that did not work right with Firefox)

IE was terrible, but they seemed to have fixed the (many) bugs that were in it. It ran extremely slowly & crashed (new PC)
So I looked at & tried other browsers

Now IE8 is out
Not even looking at that

DangerMouse 05-27-2009 08:06 AM

well, i've used Opera ( ) for many years and have never had problems with it.
IE sux. firefox is better, but no internal email like opera.

DUDE! 05-28-2009 06:19 PM

I was having a lot of freeze-ups with explorer, switched over to firefox and have been running freeze-free for over 3 months now.

Scuba_Dave 06-22-2009 09:27 PM

I'm not getting the errors (for now)
But it appears that the phishing filter is causing extremely slow reload
