Ads over posts

I assume after all this time, the ads covering 1/3 of some posts will never be fixed? Maybe the owners should bring in some outside help. Like I have posted before, on my forum, members can eliminate those ads completely. It has no effect on income from the ads. In all, this forum is well run, but to not fix something that irritating doesn't make sense.

Well said,Rusty---We all want the site to be a pleasant experience, not an irritation---

Can be frustrating.

I'm thinking the new owners went with the lowest bid for the web site re-design. Now that contractor isn't returning calls for warranty work.

I think they just failed to do any research. Most of the newer forum templates are just loaded with glitches. We decided to stay with an older model, even though upgrades are free, because of all the problems in the newer models. Our tech genius just tweaks it occasionally.

Personally I believe the traffic dropped about 50% on the HVAC forum since the "new" colors and format happened. IMO those green colors that show up on the home page and before you log in are very "unattractive". When I surf the web and the home page looks "unattractive" I blow past it in a second or two. Just like employers surfing for key words in a resume I believe people don't stay long at a page if they don't like the color or looks of it. I may be wrong and everyone loves green but the traffic is no longer there on the HVAC part of it. Less traffic = less advertising. The way it looks after you log in is better IMO. Maybe a survey would help about the color scheme? Just trying to be helpful.:)

Same color trouble here---before a member logs in there is a light blue with grey type---I can't read that for more than a few minutes---

I've told the management that the color is costing them customers----

yuri 12-29-2013 12:36 PM

Yeah, It is a proven psychological fact that certain colors bother/affect people. That is why they paint rooms in mental hospitals pink as it is soothing. Apparently pink is the best color for warships as it blends in with the water and sky and is very hard to see/sea. Does not get done unless you have a female navy. That green/blue would make me skip any webpage.

All of use Mods are trying hard to restore our site---but we don't carry much weight--

yuri 12-29-2013 12:49 PM

It is a great site, just not the colors.

oh'mike 12-29-2013 01:05 PM

Yep--That's the one thing I have been pushing to change-----

rusty baker 12-29-2013 01:40 PM

With a simple little change in the software, they can give members color choices. At least you can on most templates.

There is a choice, there's a drop down box at the very bottom left of this page.

But the other choice is worse...... Most allow, blue, brown or gray, but I don't know about this one.

Thanks guys, I've alerted the techs on this so that we can get these removed. Can you tell me what operating system you're using when you see this? A screenshot would be excellent as well so that I can try to weed out the ads that are causing the problems.
