AD blocking entire page

An ad keeps popping up and I have to hit the X to get rid of it. A few seconds later it will pop up again. Slightly annoying.

I didn't read it so don't even know what its for.

Who else has this problem?

Problem is, those ads pay for this forum so I'm not so sure it's a good idea to block them.

After all, you are getting service at no cost.

It has always been my understanding that you would have to click on those ads for them to benefit the website. If this is true then blocking all of the ads wouldn't effect the website if you are never going to click on an ad anyway.

Someone tell us how all of this really works.

Ever since Al Gore invented the internet- website owners have been looking for ways to monetize it. Pay-per-click is tried and true. So someone invents Adblocker- the free version or the pay for version. Again, someone gets paid from advertising.....

When the traffic drops because it is too much hassle to post how much will the site make?

To be honest I just got a new iPad for fathers day, you can't install ad-blocker on it. If I was new and trying to use this site and had to put with that I don't believe I would be here long.

I understand advertising, I also believe it can be overdone. If the ones across the top and down the side and on every post is not enough then you are selling the space too cheap. The ones that flash and cover the entire screen simply make me want to throw the darn thing.
