What's a good scms
I'm new to this site and was just wondering if anyone here could help me find a good reasonably cheap sliding mitre saw. I live in Canada so Canadian stores would be great. Thank you very much.

Sears sells the least expensive sliding compound saw I have seen. You can look at their website. It should point you to a store in your area. Are Sears saws any good? For the average DIYer - Yes.

Would a contractor use one, I wouldn't .....simply because they can't take the beatings that happen on everyday jobs. Besides dropping our tools, they can get beat up when they are being moved from job site to jobs site (thrown in back of a trailer or truck and then sometimes having other heavy tools piles ontop of them).

DIYers generally are not that hard on their tools, and usually do fine on the more affordable name brand tools.

BTW - We still have a Sears reciprocating saw stored on our drywall work van that we purchased in 1987, and it still works fine. (Tho, I keep a PC Tigersaw in my personal truck)

Thank you, I will consider that brand. Do you know how accurate they are, and how nice of a cut it makes?

We have a Sears compound saw that I hate. It is completely innacurate (due to regular abuse). It needs to be taken apart and re-adjusted. But, it's easier to put it in storage and use the other saws we have.

We had a worker that had a SEARS sliding compound saw. Aside from the rust on it (he had an open bed pick up truck) worked fine. I used it on a job with him and had zero problems with it's accuracy.

Take care of your tools and they will take care of you.

Thank you very much, I think I have decided on it unless there are other posts or prices. This is the one,

Is a 10 inch very good? What's the maximum depth of wood I can cut?
