Table capacity Makita LS1016L

I recently picked up a used LS1016L specifically to cut baseboard and crown for a remodeling project. I like the LS1016L because I can cut vertically or horizontally, depending on size. For baseboard I'm using 5 1/4 stock lying flat on the saw deck. The saw doesn't extend backwards to complete the cut but all four rails seem to be fully extended. I checked the manual and didn't anything covering this issue. Has anyone else seen this before with this model Makita? I should mention this is my first slider. It's a little more detailed than the chop saw I've been using.

Thanks

I have it's predecessor the 1013! The 1016 I believe has 4 rails the saw moves on making it more ridgid and accurate! IMHO you got the best slider out there!

sounds like you didnt remove all of the packing from the saw or the depth stop's are engaged.. the saw should be able to cut this no problem.. check the saw again.
