Siding Guages

Any one use these when putting up Hardi Board? Are they necessary? Any other item to use instead?

Was looking at the Pactool SA903, but does not do 12".

Thoughts?

What Hardee product uses a 12" exposure?
How many people do you have available to do the installing?

None that I know of, was talking about 12" wide, like 8", 6" etc. or tall by 12 foot long.

Thanks

That style gauge will work fine, that's what there made for.

But are you then saying that a 4" overlap is what you should use for a 12" board? Seems like anything more than 1 1/4, would be wasting material?

I see what your saying but I've never seen anyone use that much exposure.
It would end up looking like the old style vinyl siding to me if it was done with more then 8" exposure.
Can it be done sure, May just have to mark and set it by hand.
Most people want it to look like a wooden lap sided house, so from 5 to 8" would be more common.
