Porter Cable 18v Lithium Ion burning up

I may have over-estimated the capability of my drill

(Mixing mortar)

Anywho, it started to make popping sounds and smoke, so of course I stopped, and to my surprise it has still worked for drilling/driving screws since then, however, it continues to make that electronic burning smell and a little smoke sometimes. Anyone know if there are places that service these?

Dude I mix with a spade handle drill; a Milwaukee 1663-20 0-450rpm 7amp drill! Once when fixing my Mom's curb I mixed concrete with a Milwaukee 18 volt Lok Tor 0624 hammer drill. Moral of the story both are very well made stout drills. Porter cable isn't the company it once was.

There's hundreds of places, look for your manual there listed in there, go on the Porta Cable web site, or look in your local phone book under tool repair.

*sigh* Yeah I wish I had had gone for the DeWalt or the Milwaukee drills when I got this set up. As a first time home owner, I was gunning for a set that would start me off with a circular saw, and I already had my Makita 16 volt so the drill wasn't as key at that time, but I killed Makita on my last round of mortar with the previous bathroom renovation. Grrrr... I only ended up with this set because I could afford it but it wasn't pure crap like Ryobi, Skil or Black & Decker, and the saw fit my hands well enough-(it truly is a to find a good, strong power tool that fits comfortably in a womans hand and can thus be operated with the requisite level of control)
