so i've had this little compressor for 10+ years and it's worked great but it just started leaking air form inside the motor that sits on top of the tank. i think i'll take it apart and see where it's leaking but first i thought i might ask if anyone else has had his experience? it's not leaking from the bottom pin, it's definately comming from inside the motor housing. i'm thinking it's got to be an old hose or a worn out connection. also, i don't know if it's a factor but, the hose from the motor to the take is getting really warm, i've never noticed that before but that doesn't mean that it hasn't been happening all along, i just didn't notice it.
If it's got a lot of hours on it it could be the reed valves----that's a thin spring steel plate that acts like a head gasket.
That hot pipe always gets hot---not a problem.
Sometimes debris gets stuck in the valves, causing blowback and preventing pressure from building.
It's more common if the air breather element is missing or damaged on the pump, but I've had it happen to a large wheelbarrow type compressor as well.
One of the valve springs broke and a piece was stuck in the seat.
