Mikita lemon? Warranty replacement or trade?

So my husband finally went and did it and splurged to get me a "proper" drill - chose the Mikita cordless drill/impact driver set. Was great for a short while. After spending quite a few hours with it (many battery charges) on a couple pretty good projects (like building custom cages, for example), something is going wrong - it wont' hang onto a bit for long, drills wobbly holes, etc. Not what I expected from what I thought would be a quality, long-lasting tool. It's been MAYBE a couple months at the most.

Before I try to take it back I'd like to know if this is a fluke and I should just get a replacement Makita, or just say heck with it and trade in for another brand of tool?

At first I wondered if I could have done something wrong in using it, but I don't think I'm THAT inept (plus, my cheap corded drill that I had before lasted me YEARS without issue until the cord frayed from me keeping it in the stupid case it came in. THAT was a dumb me thing, but it had nothing to do with my USE of the thing).

What are others' experiences with these Mikita drills and any thoughts?

Never once had a problum with any Mikita tool.
Try going on Amazon.com and bring up the model number of the tool.
Once it comes up look at the bottom of the page to read reports from real people that have bought the same tool.

Good suggestion. Did that. most people give it 5 star rating, though many report battery issues (which I'd agree with), a couple report power issues (which I'd also agree with, which always seemed weird), and only a couple report about clutch/chuck issues. So I guess I have to wonder if these problems are common to some sort of misuse that wouldn't apply in another drill, or if it really is a random lemon of a tool?

If it's me, I'd just as soon know what the heck I could have possibly done to cause such problems as I'd obviously not like to repeat whatever it would have been.

I did read the manual first, btw. I'm not new to drills by any means, but I AM new to a drill costing this much, so I did read it. No huge surprises or anything, but it didn't really say that much to begin with.

Am I missing something or is this a random tool failure?
