makita compound saw help

I have a Makita sliding compound saw LS1016L. The blade is out of alignment. I have been trying to align it by rotating the adjusting bolts in the back of the saw but nothing seems to saw get the blade to cut square. I think that the bevel is the problem but not sure. The owner's manual doesn't provide me with the clear instruction I need to make the adjustment. Any suggestions?

Should be as simple as setting a speed square againt the blade (making sure it's not againt the teeth) and adjusting the stops with a couple of wrenches and a phillips screw driver on the plastic indicaters.
