last minute router decision - which one to buy?

this:

or this:

basically a coin toss. both get good reviews. the hitachi has more overall reviews, so it's expected that some would be a bit negative.
but it looks so goofy.

i own a bunch of hitachi nail guns, a miter saw, and makita skil saw.
i like them all.

any advice?

Of the two models, I would probably go with the Makita. This review puts that model Hitachi @ Number 5 out of four other models (Makita was not compared)

They both look like nice tools. PaliBob has a good point with the Makita.

I've used Porter Cable for years--I have 4. Never had a reason to look at any other brand.--Mike---

thanks guys.
i did order the makita yesterday from amazon.

the kicker was when i called up hitachi and a rep told me the router was "just a homeowner's tool." (i was asking about how big the sub base was for larger bits.)

now for bits.
i'm looking at either CMT, Amana, or Freud.
but, are MLCS any good? they are much cheaper...

Any of the carbides will give you good service---I buy the cheaper ones generally--

The ones that I use often enough to wear out I replace with a better grade.---Mike---
