Inactive Compressor

I bought a used Sears Craftsman compressor which has not been used for three months. Is there anything I need to check or change before I start it up for the first time?

If it's an oil bath compressor---check the oil level---change it if the compressor is ancient--drain the tank of any water--

-other than that--pug it in and see if it works----3 months sitting is not a long time.

is it oil less? if it requires oil i would change that first just to be safe.. make sure its turned off when you plug it in because it can cause the reset on it to trip

My 10 year old Craftsman compressor only gets run a few time a year. 3 months (or longer) is a very typical period of inactivity for mine. As mentioned above open the bottom drain to get out any water (hopefully the previous owner did that) and then make sure the drain is shut, and you should be good to go.

i actually leave the valve open on my compressor when its going to be store for some time .when you bleed the tank not all the water comes out.. by leaving it open it can still be able to dry out
