help buying air compressor

I am in the market for an electric portable compressor to run one framing gun, not production speed (and to blow up tires etc in future). Also, it will plugged in to about 200' of 12 gauge extension cord... what size tank? horsepower? It sounds like oil is better than oil-free and can be fixed? I don't want to spend more than I have to,.....looking at used. Thanks

help buying air compressor

That 200 foot of cord might kill the compressor -----Longer air lines and a shorter (or no) extension cord

would be best.

As to the cfm requirements---some one will give you that---Mike--

If you use 12 awg you should be ok I would think. Plug the cord in and test the voltage at the other end to see how much of a drop you get while the compressor (or another big enough load) is running.
