A Fantastic Gift

A very good friend gave me a fantastic gift, a Stanley #46 plane. I am not a collector, I use these planes and this is one fine tool I will take great pleasure using. OhMike blew me away giving me this plane, it came in the mail yesterday. I had to hold it again this morning to be sure it was actually real. Mike thank you so much for this fine tool. Take a look at this beaut I don't think it has ever been used and in the original box, with a full set of cutters in the original wooden box, it even has the directions.

John, it is such a pleasure to work with a super sharp well tuned old plane. It is just as much fun to sharpen the irons as it is use them. I can't wait to try this one out, it is a skew blade.

Howdy!

I've been thinking about that 'original' box-----is it possible that the box is newer and the end flap from the old paste board box is just stapled on to the newer one?

Mike I just looked at the end flap again, it does look like it was cut out and stapled on, the label is on a thinner card board or heavy paper of some type. I will do some checking to see what type and year it is, there are several places online.
