ebay USED tools - what am I missing?

I am trying to understand why people seems to overpay for power tools on ebay.

Case in point, there is a USED Makita angle grinder with a bid of $68 ending in two days. The buyer would have to pay an additional $8.95 for shipping. It's used, scratched up and no warranty. It may bid up even more when the item expires.

A new one of the same model number can be bought from Amazon for $77.99 with free shipping.

What am I missing here?

There are many possibilities.

Could be not available in their area, They might have gotten themselves "blacklisted" at Amazon.

They are not very bright, and don't know any better, or they are trying to replace something that they borrowed and broke, with an exact duplicate.

I too see things on fee-bay that are selling for 50% more or even double what I can go to Sam's Club and buy for less.

W.C Fields said it many years ago : " There's a sucker born every minute."

Far stranger things have happened.
They can ask any price they want, if some dumb a** is willing to pay that so be it.
I'd bet most never follow though and send the money.
Check out Craig's list some time, I delete at least a few hundred scams a day on there.
Skid loaders and tractors that should be selling for about $14,000 advertized for $2018.
Items being sold with phone #'s that are over 1000 miles away from where the item is being advertised.

People get caught up in the on-line auction? Just like watching folks at a live auction.

Sellers can use fake bidders to pump up prices too. Ebay does what they can to eliminate that kind of fraud, but it happens.
