Do I need to upgrade my sander?

Hey all,

A while back I posted on the forum with some advice about removing some peeling paint (Peeling Paint Problem).

Well, now I have a question about electric sanders, so I can get on with the job!

I currently have an old Black & Decker Dual Action Sander (7436-04),

which I think Noah used to sand down portions of the arc! It still works, but it seems to be getting through the task in hand VERY slowly!!

Would it be beneficial for me to go out and get this...

to hopefully make lighter work of what I'm doing?

I'd love a good excuse to buy more Dewalt tools, but I don't to bother if it's not going to make much difference to what I'm doing.

Cheers
Glenn

If you use a sander a lot I wouldn't hesitate to buy a moderately priced sander. Also I know for a fact Noah used craftsman lol

It's not that I use one a lot, but I have 4 walls that I need to remove a full layer of paint from, and if it's going to cut down my time then it would be $100 worth spending.

If your sheet sander is working fine for your other things, and you really just want an orbital, one similar to above can be had for about $50 at Amazon.

If you have a $100 budget and want to keep your current sheet sander, you can go with some different/better options for a random orbit sander. If you really have a lot of wall, the $125 range will get you something like a Porter Cable 7xxx series DA sander/polisher would be a good option (then you can use it to shine your car too).

as the others have said, if the old sander still works just keep using it.. as for the dewalt orbital sander ... theirs much better sanders on the market. the budget dewalt sander is extremely unbalanced and will is hard to control believe it or not.. i bought one used it twice then sold it.. pick up a makita, bosch or milwaukee their far better made
