Delta band saw value

Any Idea what this saw is worth? How old is it and is it worth buying?

Thanks
Anthony

Re: Delta band saw value

do a search on ebay for an est on pricing, then always go with cash in hand and offer less than asking price..

Re: Delta band saw value

Only you know your needs and desires for this item.

From the picture it looks cared for, and the price is near correct.

But there is no hint as to it's age, maybe you can look up it's serial number, to get more .

Re: Delta band saw value

You can buy a decent brand new band saw in the $400 range.

One example:

PORTER-CABLE 13.625-in 10-Amp Stationary Band Saw

Re: Delta band saw value

It seemed a bit pricey to me at 400 but I was under the impression that delta's older stuff was pretty decent so that's why I was looking at it over a new one.

Re: Delta band saw value

It is decent, but not for that price, and old Deltas are notoriously hard to find parts for.

You can get a brand new Grizzly for $435.

I never buy new, made in where ever, when older equipment in good to excellent condition is available. Pull the doors, judge the tires, watch it run and offer 300 but no more if it seems as good as it appears.

Re: Delta band saw value

The saw looks like it's from the 90's. I have owned a of those 14" Delta band saws.Last one being in a cabinet with the motor in the cabinet. In the mid 90's I believe it was $750.they are a quality saw and in my opinion would be better than a new Grizzly or PC plus it's a 1hp motor.
I would not worry much about parts on a band saw.The only things that usually wear are the guides wich can be bought anywhere and tires which can also be had most anywhere as upgraded parts.
I think that's a fair price but $350 would be a good deal to me.

Re: Delta band saw value

Seems a little high, but they might have some give.

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/tls/5504874724.html

The Delta with the rounded top and bottom like in your ad is the heavier duty one, the one with squared off top and bottom is lighter duty even though it might look bigger. You can resaw with the heavier one. Check that it runs without the blade popping off.
