How old is said compressor? Take a bottle with some soapy water in it and spray around to see for leaks. Leaks will make bubbles, be generous with the spraying.

There has to be a leak somewhere, even if it's out of the head or a bad flap valve.

Just to ask the obvious before we overlook it --- you have adjusted the regulator right?

May want to add the model # and serial # to your post.
It could be a number of things, the line from the tank to the pressure switch leaking, piston rings worn out, leaking drain valve on the bottom of the tank , bad check valve, broken reeds, ect.

Sounds like a stuck or leaky valve. If the regulator was set to 30 #'s it would shut off when it got there. Model number would be helpful.
