Cordless tool battery compatibility

I think batteries from some tool lines are compatible with others -- e.g., Porter Cable with Master Mechanic, or MM with B&D?

Amazingly I can't find any such compatibility notes online. Anybody aware of any?

That would be news to me if that was true.

You can buy a $10 harbor freiight 18v battery, take the battery out of the case an swap it with an 18v firestorm/B&D battery.. a little soldering needed but beats paying $35 for a firestorm battery.
