Clean oil off of tools, also clean the inside of a compressor

More specifically an oil-run air compressor.

I bought it used, very old. It's a bit rusty but the most important thing is that it's very grimy.

What is the best material to clean oil grime off of the compressor / motor / wires / belt / piston casing?

Also, the previous owner never seemed to clean the compressor inside and out. When i removed the drain plug, I had to poke the inside with a stick because the drain hole was plugged by all the oil grime.

Is there anyway to clean the interior of an air compressor?

Ayuh,... Kerosine or whatever solvent you'd like to use...

Nope,... Not really, just drain it more often...

Rebuilding the compressor head should eliminate the excess oil problem...
