Can I use a framing nailer as a roofing nailer?

Simple question:

I found a framing nailer for $100 for my air compressor, pretty good deal. I could use it for a major project soon but, I also need to do my roof soon too...

can a framing nailer be used when installing a new roof or is a roofing nailer necessary?

i would use an air compressor regardless.

Unfortunately No, the nails used in a framing nailer arent meant to hold down shingles. A roofing nailer will shoot nails with a larger head that will keep the shingle from pulling the nail right through it.
