briggs and straton engine


i have an old generator with a briggs and stanton 5 hp engine on it. its old but runs great. this morning i went to start it and on choke it runs great but when i shut the choke off it kills the engine, anybody have any ideas where to start to fix this, thanks spurrowl

briggs and straton engine


You're not getting enough fuel. Fuel filter clogged, jets in carb clogged with vanish. If this is the old diaphram type carb it could be a bad diaphram. If it were a newer carb with electric ignition and an anti-backfire solenoid it could be low voltage to the solenoid
