Agreed. Someone wouldn't make that challenge unless they had a trick up their sleeve, so now I am curious as to what gives him the advantage here.

We have a name issue here.
Self Tapping (sometimes called Self Drilling) do not require a pilot hole.

Just wanted to say that I've had this set for years, and they work awesome, as long as you don't try using them in too thick of material........
