Jim--You will love nail guns.

The first time I ever used one my whole style of nailing changed.I was hand nailing inch thick maple stair treads--expensive stuff--pre-drilling the holes for the nails-nice finish hammer--nail set-

Another carpenter was working in the house--late in the afternoon he came to the staircase dragging a hose and a finish gun.--"Here Mike, try this."

Within two days I had my first gun--I couldn't afford a portable compressor,so I lugged my giant shop compressor around for a couple of months.

Now my truck looks like a pawn shop--3 brad guns-1 finish gun-staple gun-framer a roofing gun and a brand new pin nailer.

I've got back ups of most of them on the shop wall--I don't know if I can still drive a nail with a hammer.

The guns are much cheaper today than the were way back when.
My Senco finish gun was $165--almost 20 years ago.

Some of the cheap off shore guns work very well--Amazingly cheap prices.

For occasional use they may be a good value.

Because I must make a living with my guns I always buy the best I can afford.

I look for a gun that has a 'trap door ' to clear a jammed nail----Who wants to look for a set of metric allen wrenches every time a nail gets jammed?

I also like a 'lock out' so the gun stops shooting when I'm out of nails.

I also want a brand that has easy to get repair parts.

One other thing would be commonly available nails--

Just a few thoughts if you're ready for a more deluxe gun---mike--

Broke down and bought the Bostitch combo kit from lowes. It includes a brad, finish and stapler. Haven't gotten to use it yet but turned the compressor on and charged it. It doesn't sound too loud. For my limited use I hope it lasts. I will be looking at higher end nailers if these don't last but it does come with a warranty. It has a slightly higher recharge rate than the Porter cable and I believe it can at least drive a mini palm nailer.
