You folks have ruined me!

I do the same thing. On Christmas I went to my fiance's brother's house, and they had just put down some peel and stick 24"x24" vinyl tiles on their living room concrete floor, and I was sitting near the point where it changes to linoleum for the kitchen, and i noticed it was jagged and i thought, "they really need a transition strip there." Before i found this site, i wouldnt have looked twice at it.

My mom lives in a finished basement, and her land-lady needs a new contractor. Since I've been paying attention to this site, I picked apart her renovation. Obviously, I didn't do it right in front of her, but I realized that you need to look a bit closer at things to determine quality work.

And you guys that give advice at Hombre Depot remind me of the Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon goes to the Best Buy to get Leonard a birthday gift.

Lets be honest....you don't look at computer nerds with the same disdain as you used to......you now 'understand'....

I bet all home owners do that. And the more a home owner DIYs the more they inspect I bet. My mom helped me do a lot of interior painting, I drove her crazy because Im so picky, she now calls me "The Inspector".

I caught myself inspecting door hinges at work one day, gave myself a chuckle over it.

This post makes me feel much better about myself, haha! The first time I had an experience like this was in the men's bathroom of a new college building....tile job was horrible, along with the grout job done wrong. I usually am only like this when in computer stores, suggesting what customers REALLY spend their money on.

I just saw a cover girl makeup commercial where they talked about how it was "primer, concealer, and foundation" all in one.

I immediately thought "I wonder if makeup artists get bent out of shape over this stuff the way pro painters do?"

Hahahahaha

Hubby is a drywall taper....he's had me ruined for years. Its impossible to go into a home/building without immediately looking in corners. Trying to find visable seams has become a game.
But now....oh gosh, Im looking at peoples floors, doors, windows....
The only real downside? My poor pop fell off the pedestal I had him on. I wouldn't go so far as to label him a hack....but.....
