Wood stove grate?

can i put a grate inside my wood stove to keep the wood off the firebrick for better burning? no air gets under the logs. It is a Alaska 2500 wood burning stove.

Wood stove grate?

One of my houses had a buck stove insert that had a small grate in it and it worked fine it sat low to the bottom of the stove, may have been custom made or cut to fit. On cold winter days I kinda miss the extra heat but not cutting firewood!
