Wood Front Door Care

I have a nice 3 yr old wood front door. I'd like to know how I should care for it? What do I use to clean it? How often should I clean it? Should I seal it and protect it and if so with what and how often? I just want to make sure I keep it in perfect condition and don't have to refinish it in 5 yrs. It is protected by a covered porch so does not get direct sunlight. There is no storm door.

Wood Front Door Care

Do you know what the original finish on the door is? Is it an oil, a stain, and does it have polyurethane (clear gloss) on it? What wood is the door made of?

By having it protected for the sun you made keeping your wood door nice much easier you will probably get by with just cleaning it once in a while
