Wiring multiple outlets, switches and lights

I'm a first year electrical student. I was wondering if there were any basic tips I needed when wiring multiple switches outlets and lights. In class we have our workspace set up like this. 12 receptacles in total. . 4 lights up top, 4 switches in the 2nd row and 4 outlets on the bottom. We've been wiring different circuits as well, Like 4 lights, 2 switches and 6 outlets etc...so I'm just looking for any basic tips I should know, that I can apply to any of the different circuits we come across in class (teacher says he's got about 50 different types)

Also we power it up with a cut extension cord (green, black and white)

Basic tips? That's a pretty specialized setup. Hard to tell you very much, other than...

...don't grab the hot and neutral wires at the same time.

Best tip I can give is, Pay attention to your teacher.
There are an infinite number of wiring combinations you'll come across in your career. Keep the wiring as straight forward as you can.
