Windows not locking

Good morning.

I was doing some cleaning around the house the other day and noticed that the 2 front windows of my home do not lock . They are ground level so this is a big problem, in my opinion.

A couple of things:
1) the house was a spec house that we bought 2 1/2 years ago.
2) some of the work seems to be kind of shoddy--actually reported them already to the Better Business Bureau for water problems.
3) when we did the walk through a long time ago, we actually did not check each window to make sure that it locked (our fault).
4) when I slide the lock over the window, I can still open the window very easily--or without any tension.

My question is--is there a homemade way to lock the windows with a screw or nail? I have also have seen some water marks inside the window (around the window frame) maybe from water blowing in from the outside?

Thanks in advance.

Check out your warranty on the windows first thing. You should be covered by the manufacturer. If they are sliding well then it sounds like a problem with the lock itself.
